I've been working on these little 4x6 photo books to help keep my kids (supposedly) quiet during church services. Since a few friends have asked me about sharing, which I'm happy to do, I thought I'd post them here to give everyone easy access. Basically, you print the cards up just as you would 4x6 prints and place them into inexpensive photo albums. I found some albums for $1 at Wal-Mart (thanks to a tip from my friend, Susan).
I realize these particular cards will only appeal to those of my faith, but really, anyone with Photoshop and a little imagination could take this idea and run with it. You could create any kind of personalized photo book for your kids. Not only would they be great for church, but for travelling, waiting rooms, restaurants and trips to the grocery store. I love their compact size too. I can easily fit one or two in my purse.
One set of cards is of latter-day prophets. It includes the 16 modern-day presidents of the church, plus a cover. I know some of you are wondering what in the world I mean by latter-day prophets. To make sure I explain correctly, I'll copy some information directly from my church's website.
As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we are blessed to be led by living prophets—inspired men called to speak for the Lord, as did Moses, Isaiah, Peter, Paul . . . and other prophets of the scriptures. We sustain the President of the Church as prophet, seer, and revelator—the only person on the earth who receives revelation to guide the entire Church. Like the prophets of old, prophets today testify of Jesus Christ and teach His gospel.
I've also made a set of temple cards. I've tried to include a good representation of temples from around the world.
I've made the cards available for download at my photography website. I'm just not tech savvy enough to do that thing where you can download them all at once, so you'll have to do it ala carte style. Feel free to share the link with friends and family. You could also laminate them and fasten them together with a metal ring, or just use individual cards as hand-outs for lessons. They're also great for Family Home Evening.
