My friend Kim kindly alerted me to the fact that October is National Donut Month. This means, of course, that you should eat donuts every day until Halloween, at which time you should replace the donuts in your diet with lollipops and miniature chocolate bars.Being married to a Canadian, National Donut Month is very important indeed. According to Wikipedia, Canadians consume the most doughnuts, per capita, in the world. Canada also has the most doughnut stores per capita. If you have ever been to Canada, you've probably noticed a Tim Horton's on every corner. According to my calculations, there is one Tim Horton's donut shop for every 10 Canadians.
Since it's National Donut Month, it's a good a time as any to visit the Tim Horton's website, where you will learn about important dates in donut history such as these:

How sad that he did not live to see the invention of Timbits. Because having some ice cream with your donuts seems like a perfectly reasonable idea.
