PICTURE OF THE DAY: WEEK 50

The thing that is so alarming about this post is the fact that there are only 2 weeks left in the year!!!  The amount of food that I ate this week is alarming too.

PICTURE OF THE DAY: WEEK 49 AND AN AMUSING ANECDOTE

I was helping C with his homework the other night.  He's reading a book on Arctic animals.  When he comes across something interesting, he's supposed to write it on a Post-it and stick it to the page.  Rather advanced reading techniques for a second grader, if you ask me.  On the page about the wolverine, his Post-it says:

That wolverine does not look like the one from the movie.

He's nothing if not observant.  And that, my friends is your amusing anecdote for Week 49 of 2011.

PICTURE OF THE DAY: WEEK 47

I know, we're already halfway through the week and I'm just now posting this.  And that's probably how it's going to be for the next 5 weeks of the year.  Five weeks!!!!

PICTURE OF THE DAY: WEEK 46

This week, you can see that we're in that sort of twilight zone where we haven't celebrated Thanksgiving yet, but signs of Christmas are starting to appear.  And also crab cheese wantons, which appear year round at our house.

PICTURE OF THE DAY: WEEK 45

This week has been spent organizing a disorganized child (not the one pictured) and trying new pumpkin recipes.  Pumpkin desserts are healthy right?  They're made out of vegetables.

PICTURE OF THE DAY: WEEK 44

It seems I was in the mood for a lot of black and white photos this week.  With the time change, I might be in the mood for all black and white photos next week!  Hopefully I can talk next week too.  It's seems I've lost my voice and I don't know where to find it.  At least we have a few pounds of Halloween chocolate left.....in case I need to eat myself into a better mood.

PICTURE OF THE DAY: WEEK 42

Week forty two. Really?  Just 10 weeks left in the year?  I've got to start my Christmas shopping!

PICTURE OF THE DAY: WEEK 41

This week was full of interesting creatures.....squirrels, praying manti, and little lacrosse players.  And just to illustrate how well trained my children are, when they spotted that praying mantis on the back porch, they knew they needed to run into the house and tell mom to get her camera.  Smart kids!

PICTURE OF THE DAY: WEEK 40

Really, I don't know what to say about this week's random assortment of photos.  Except that we ate some good stuff, and I photographed the most fun family ever!

PICTURE OF THE DAY: WEEK 39

This week I photographed a wedding, along with one of my favorite families in the whole world.  And I can't believe it's October already!  I better enjoy this outdoor picture taking weather while it lasts.

PICTURE OF THE DAY: WEEK 38

I don't want to alarm anyone, but we're 38 weeks into the year.  Which means the busiest 12 weeks of the year are right around the corner.  You've got 2 more weeks to relax, and then it's time to figure out the Halloween costumes, carve the pumpkins, find a good deal on a Thanksgiving turkey, start your Christmas shopping, bake something for the school's fall carnival, attend 9 different holiday programs and concerts, make rolls for the church Christmas party, bake 27 kind of cookies to give the to neighbors.....I'll stop, it's just depressing.

PICTURE OF THE DAY: WEEK 37 AND GIANT RAVIOLI

I'd like to draw your attention in this week's collage to the very last photo.  Perhaps we should zoom in for a closer look.....

BEHOLD, THE GIANT RAVIOLI!

Made out of two oven-ready lasagna noodles.  It's easy! You don't even have to cook the noodles.  Just soak them in some hot water, fill them with stuff, cover them with sauce and bake them.  My friend Elaine came up with this brilliant idea.  You could fill the giant ravioli with anything you wanted.  This one is filled with a very tasty sausage and cheese mixture.

I've shared the recipe and method here.  But why not invent your own giant ravioli filling?  I'd love to hear what you come up with.

PICTURE OF THE DAY: WEEK 35

This week's highlights: went to a wedding, ate some fried rice, and took some Senior portraits.  That's just the kind of exciting life I lead.

PICTURE OF THE DAY: WEEK 34

We made it through the first week of school. And I can hardly believe we're already heading into the 35th week of the year.

PICTURE OF THE DAY: WEEK 32

This week I scored my awesome photography for food trade with Amy from Garden Sweet Farms.  If you didn't know any better, you might look at this week's collage and think we lived out in the country.  Which sounds like a wonderful life, until you realize how far you are from the nearest Target.

PICTURE OF THE DAY: WEEK 31

Started off this week in San Francisco and ended it at the County Fair.  With a lot of good food in between.
